This website will provide you with information about the latest as well as past Curricula of the Virtual Ph.D. Program, Special Events and of course the Guests who participate in our conferences, e.g. by giving lectures.
Every semester, there is a virtual course organized by two different faculty members of the VGK. The topics vary, as you can see by visiting our Curriculum-Website. During these virtual courses, the participants cooperate via video conferences or by using shared workspaces (e.g. the BSCW system), content management systems (e.g. Bebop) and other forms of knowledge exchange media. The general aim is to provide the Ph.D. students with an overview of the central theories and research methods with regard to learning in multimedia-based and telematic learning environments. Although the emphasis of the virtual courses is on knowledge acquisition and knowledge exchange with new media, i.e. netbased communication technologies, there are also face-to-face meetings, which mostly take place at the end of each course. These face-to-face meetings are Special Events, with international Guests giving lectures.
