Short Vita

Prof. Dr. Hans Spada is Full Professor at the Department of Psychology, Research Group Cognition-Emotion-Communication, University of Freiburg. He studied psychology at the University of Vienna, earned his doctorate there (Dr. phil., 1969), and qualified as a university lecturer at the Universities of Vienna (1976) and Kiel (1977). He worked as senior researcher at the Institute of Science Education, Kiel, from 1972 to 1980. He was President of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Psychologie (DGPs) 1994-96, Chairman of the PhD-Program Human and Machine Intelligence (1993-2002), and the European Science Foundation Program Learning in Humans and Machines (1994-97). He is member of the Virtual PhD-Program Knowledge Acquisition and Knowledge Exchange with the New Media (1999-2007). He is author/editor/coeditor of 10 books (e.g. Computer models for experiential learning, 1993; Learning in humans and machines: Towards an interdisciplinary learning science, 1995; Environmental risks, 2001; Barriers and biases in computer-mediated knowledge communication - and how they may be overcome, 2005, and author/coauthor of about 90 papers.


Research Interests

Technology supported individual and collaborative learning, computer-mediated communication, cognitive psychology, environmental psychology.
