Short Vita

Prof. Dr. Rainer Bromme holds the chair for Educational Psychology within the Department of Psychology at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität, Münster, Germany. He studied Psychology at the University of Münster (Diplom Degree 1995), achieved doctor's degree at the University of Oldenburg (1979) and the 'Venia Legendi for Psychology (Habilitation) at the University of Bielefeld.

In Münster he is since 1995, from 1992 until 1995 he worked as full professor at the Department of Psychology in Frankfurt/Main and before as Senior Researcher at the Institute for Research in Mathematics Education (IDM) at the University of Bielefeld (a national research institute on Mathematics Education).


Research Interests

Cognition and teaching/learning processes, especially related to

  • learning with New Media,
  • communication and ccoperation between experts and laypersons,
  • development of professional expertise,
  • the development of knowledge and understanding in Science and Mathematics.
