Born in Villingen-Schwenningen (Germany).

1988-1994:

Study of Psychology at the University of Freiburg (Germany).

1994:

Graduation in Psychology at the University of Freiburg (Germany). Thesis: "Lernen durch Selbsterklären von Beispielen: Unterstützung durch einen computerisierten Memory Assistant und ein Selbsterklärungstraining" [Support for learning by self-explanation of examples: a computer-based memory assistant and training].

1994-1997:

Ph.D. study of Psychology (computer science and biology) supported by a grant from the German Science Foundation (DFG) within the graduate program "Menschliche und maschinelle Intelligenz" [Intelligence in Humans and Machines] at the University of Freiburg (Germany).

1997:

Doctoral Dissertation in Psychology at the University of Freiburg (Germany). Thesis: "Inhaltseffekte beim logischen Denken ‚ der Fall der Wason'schen Wahlaufgabe" [Content effects in deductive reasoning - The case of Wason's selection task].

1997-1999:

Research fellow (Wissenschaftlicher Angestellter) at the University of Freiburg (Germany) working within the DFG project "Qualitatives und quantitatives Physikwissen im Informationsaustausch" [The exchange of information on the basis of knowledge about qualitative and quantitative aspects in physics].

July 1999 - February 2000:

Post graduate student of the VGK (with scholarship).
