Short Vita

Prof. Dr. Rolf Plötzner holds the chair for Educational Technology at the University of Education in Freiburg, Germany. He is Director of the Institute of Media in Education. He studied Psychology and Mathematics at the University of Freiburg where he also earned his doctorate (Dr. phil., 1994) and qualified as a University Lecturer (Dr. phil. Habil.) in 1998. Rolf Plötzner manages various research projects on learning and problem solving with digital media and is speaker of the graduate school "Learning for the knowledge society - Methods for successful learning with digital media", supported by the state Baden-Württemberg.


Research Interests

Prof. Dr. R. Plötzner's research focuses on individual and cooperative learning with external representations in net-based learning environments, inquiry-based and problem-based learning with digital media, and on structuring and supporting learning activities in distributed groups by means of explicit models of learning processes.
