Topic: Learning within virtual environments: cognitive load caused by Presence and Performance

Supervisors: Prof. Dr. Dr. Friedrich Hesse (University of Tübingen), Prof. Dr. Hans Spada (University of Freiburg)

Summary

The goals I want to meet within my work are:

• comparison of the theoretical approaches of cognitive load and learning with desktop-based virtual environments
• conception of a framework for research in the field of issues that influence cognitive load in virtual reality environments
• research on relevant variables of the framework such as presence, navigation techniques and spacial metaphors in a field study and
• examination of core variables in an experimental design
